RICK & THEL
Inducted January 1985

It was a proud day when husband and wife team Rick and Thel Carey were named the 10th inductees to the Roll of Renown. Rick & Thel first got together as a duo in 1949 performing under the name of The Sliprail Swingsters.

Shortly after getting married in 1952, they had the opportunity of recording for EMI Records, which led directly to touring with various shows. In 1960 they put together and took to the road with what was to become perhaps Australia's most loved touring show simply called The Rick & Thel Show.

The couple were entertainment experts, bringing to us a rich variety in their music. From songs such as the heart wrenching Fourteen Red Roses For Jenny to hilarious novelty numbers like He's AShe's A and I'll Take The Dog, they displayed a prowess for all facets of country music. Rick also created Cousin Ratsack who, by his zany antics, became one of Australia's all-time classic comedy characters.

Country Music fans mourned the loss of Thel Carey in 1998. Now retired, recently, Rick has been making a number of special one-off appearances.
