LINDSAY BUTLER
Inducted January 2007

One of Australia’s leading country guitar players and record producers, Lindsay's professional career began in the 1960s when he toured with Athol McCoy.

Since then, he has played with all the greats from Slim Dusty, Buddy Williams and Gordon Parsons to Rex Dallas, Brian Young, Stan Coster and Barry Thornton.

Lindsay was the first Australian guitarist to record a full solo instrumental album (in 1976) which won him his first Golden Guitar.

His distinctive guitar technique and mastery of the bush ballad style is featured on more than a thousand recording projects, many of which he also produced in his parallel career in the recording business.

Lindsay’s LBS studios reached a milestone output of 100 albums in 2006. In January 2008, Lindsay was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to country music as a performer, recording artist and producer.
