KENNY KITCHING Inducted January 2004

Kenny Kitching built his own steel guitar at age 16. His first professional engagement was in 1949 and before long, he was recording with artists like Frank Ifield, Jimmy Little, Rex Dallas and The LeGarde Twins.

Through the next half century, Kenny played with almost every major country music recording artist in Australia and on more than a thousand recordings including his own. He has won many accolades including a lifetime achievement award and induction into the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.

Kenny made an enormous contribution to Australian recorded country music by establishing steel guitar as one of our key instruments.
