JOHN WILLIAMSON
Inducted January 1997

In a career spanning more than 30 years since the debut of Old Man Emu in 1970, John has released more than 26 albums, eight videos and nine songbooks. Recognised with 18 Golden Guitars, eight MO Awards, two ARIA Awards, an Advance Australia Award for his contribution to the arts and the environment and an AM for services to Australian country music and for stimulating conservation awareness, John Williamson was the first Australian artist to consistently bring songs of the bush to city audiences as well as traditional country followers. John was also founding Vice-chairman of the Australia's peak country music industry organisation the Country Music Association of Australia.
